It is our distinct pleasure to announce the birth of our daughter, Nalini Fiorillo, on Thursday June 19th at 12:18 P.M. Nalini (which means "lotus blossom" in Bengali) is a welterweight, tipping the scales at a svelte 6 lbs., 11 oz. While she's since dropped a few more ounces, she's now eating round the clock. She's rather tall for her weight, though, and stretches almost 20 inches in length.

Labor and delivery went quickly and efficiently. Although I didn't have to catch her in my baseball mitt, we were in the hospital only a few hours before she was born. Naturally, this greatly annoyed the woman in the adjacent room, who had been laboring in the hospital for two days prior to our arrival.

We're now back home, and are actually doing quite well, despite being somewhat sleep deprived. Sonali greatly enjoys being a big sister, and is very empathetic towards (and protective of) little Nalini. Swapna came up from Pennsylvania for the weekend, and was incredibly helpful with all that a second child entails. She went home this morning, leaving plenty of delicious food in our fridge.
