Works of art

This week was the annual Art Show at the kids' preschool. As usual it was a fun event displaying lots of creative and beautiful art projects. Sonali had a great time goofing around with friends.

Nalini was on the move!

And we were enjoying all of the fun artwork. The Obama image was painted by the Older Preschoolers from an image projected onto the canvas. The blue mosaic was made by Nalini and her friends in the infant room. That was my favorite one, but the bidding got very pricey, very fast, so we decided we'd make a green mosaic or series of mosaics for our play room as a school vacation week art project. (The kids have only one week of school left this year and then a week break before moving up to the Older Preschool and Toddler One classrooms.)

Below is another infant room creation that the kids made by dipping koosh balls in paint and throwing them at the canvas.

And finally, this is the one we actually got to bring home. It was made by Sonali and her Younger Preschool friends. They painted bubble wrap in different colors and stamped it onto the canvas.

Not pictured here are projects created by throwing sponges at canvases, fingerpaints and stencils for infants, self-(digital)-portraits for the Younger Preschoolers, and many more lovely works of art. It's amazing how a some fun materials, good color choices, and creative kids & teachers can come together to create art that looks even better than works hanging in professional galleries. We've already hung our bubble wrap art in Sonali's room, and are looking forward to creating even more fun art with the kids.
