Florida 2010

Last week our family had quite the crazy week - on Monday we met with our contractor who informed us that they anticipated beginning demolition of our old house (no, not the whole thing - just the bits they will be fixing up) on Monday. Naturally, we had less than three days left in Massachusetts before we had plans to jet down to Florida, so the packing frenzy, work madness, intense illness recovery, and trip preparation periods were all overlapping. Yikes! Somehow we survived, and soon we found ourselves on the plane to Orlando, and quickly, on the tram to Disney!

We were lucky that Jim (a.k.a. Grandpappy) was able to join us for the fun, and the girls loved dragging him all over Disney.

Here they are in the tea cup ride. During the ride, everyone was smiling, but Nalini wasn't too sure if this ride was for her. Afterwards, however, she ran around telling everyone how fun it was!

Here's Jason and Sonali in a rocket ship ride in Tomorrowland. This ride is at the highest point of the park, and it's fairly fast, so alas toddlers aren't allowed. Truly, if the tea cups were the most excitement she could take, this ride would have been way too much.

Jason's cousin Dave, his wife Stacey, and their son Ben were also able to join us on this trip, and it was very special for us to meet Ben for the first time! Here they are on a rather cheesy safari raft ride.

After lots of exhausting fun, we were able to retire back to Jason's Aunt Margie's house in Orlando for a delicious authentic Italian meal and some bedtime stories from her own collection. We were truly lucky to be able to combine this family vacation with visiting many members of the Fiorillo clan from all around the Southeast.

We spent the next day at Sea World which was actually much more of a hit with our group. I guess we all love animals and sea life more than princesses and lines.

Our favorite shows were the dolphin and whale show, the Shamu show, and for Nalini, the sea lion show. She is still talking about how funny it was that they were roaring.

They even had an acrobatic circus show with costumes from the sea. The girls thought this was pretty neat, and the performers come out to meet the crowd afterwards. I think Nalini is wondering if this is a really jellyfish.

I must admit, it was a bit disorienting being in 80+ degree weather before Thanksgiving and being surrounded by Christmas decorations and holiday music!

We had a lovely, though fast trip, and are excited for a relaxing Thanksgiving this week!
