A capella groupies

As many of you know, MIT is a bit of a family tradition with us since J, my brother, my sister-in-law, and I all went there for college. When my brother told me that he was coming back to town for a reunion concert of his a capella group, The Toons, we were excited to relive some fun memories and to be able to share them with the girls.

Here are the girls all gussied up and super excited to see JishuMama break out into song.

Naturally, in this day and age, there are YouTube videos of the performance to share. Sonali in particular was eagerly anticipating hearing JishuMama make all kinds of interesting noises with his mouth since a capella involves human percussion. She wore her famous crooked smile of ultimate worship throughout the entire performance.

Some of you who have been to a capella concerts may know of the light-hearted tradition of performing some skits and jokes during the concert - this particular one was probably Sonali's favorite part of the evening.

The next day, before we had to take JishuMama to the airport, we stopped off at the Museum of Science. Here's Sonali showing off the sailboat she made.

They were running a competition to design the fastest boat or the one that carried the most gems. Sonali's design became a record-holder in the gem category! JishuMama's sank. Sorry, bro, I had to put that out there. Does this mean that Sonali has a future at MIT? OK, I'll stop with the parental college pressure for a kid who's still only 4.

We were sad to say bye to JishuMama, but we can't wait to see him (and RichaMamima) again for Sonali's graduation & Nalini's birthday in a few weeks!
