First trip to the dentist
Sonali had her first trip to the dentist on Saturday, and we chose a place that is well-known to cater to kids.
We certainly didn't want her to encounter a dentist like Steve Martin (a la Little Shop of Horrors).
Sonali actually had a great experience. We talked about it a lot before going, and previously, Sonali learned that dentists are community helpers at school. She wasn't afraid at all and was completely calm.
They first worked on buttering Sonali up with stickers, a toothbrush, and some toys, but really, she was happy to have the hygenist clean her teeth. Actually, they normally do an intro appointment with the cleaning on a later date, so that the kids can get used to the office, but Sonali was so good, we were able to take care of everything in one visit!

Pat on the back for Sonali's early dental care! She's got a good start! (When I worked with the dental hygiene folks at HACC, there were often horror stories about folks and children who had ignored dental care or who didn't have access to quality care.)
