Sonali's cleared for takeoff.

SHE WALKS! It's official, Sonali has taken her first steps. You see, we haven't counted "cruising" of the step or two between stationary objects as officially walking. For us, real walking meant taking three or more steps without anything to hold on to. And, here on Puerto Rico, little Sonali walked! Not just once, but lots of times. Usually, we help her taxi around, holding both hands, or even one solo hand. Then, while the assisting parent helps Sonali build up speed, the receiving parent crouches about ten feet away and becons to Sonali. Sonali accelerates and then launches like an F-14, usually taking a few steps until crashing into the receiving parent's lap. With one of us launching and one of us receiving, nobody was left to take pictures, but we do have a couple photos of her building up speed and preparing for takeoff. Please make sure your seat backs are upright and your tray tables are in the locked positions!

Now that you can walk, it will be all the easier to have your way with the big people. The world is now at your fingertips; the trouble-making possibilities are endless --running amuck through stores, scaring the living daylights out of the big people by pretending to run towards the street; pretending like you can't hear them, as you strut away. Awesome! You're gonna love this new walking thing Sonali.
Hugs,
-Sofia
